Drinking rules
General:
- Each time the virus is spreading (you put a disease cube on the board) everyone takes a sip of their beer/drink for each cube placed on the board.
- Each time an outbreak happens everyone takes a shot.
When players trade city cards, both the giver and receiver take a drink. It’s a toast to collaboration and sharing crucial information. - Raise your glass when a Research Station is built. It’s a toast to advancing medical research.
- Each time players “Discover a cure” it calls for a toast, and everyone takes a sip of their beer/drink (or maybe a glass of water). The same happens if the players eradicate a virus.
The Epidemic cards:
- The player who draws the Epidemic cards takes a number of shots equal to the amount of Epidemic cards drawn during the game. The Epidemic card that the player just drew counts towards this amount.
- During the “increase phase” everyone takes a number of sips of their beer/drink equal to the number of the new infection rate.
Drinking rules for losing::
- Should you lose because you can’t draw 2 cards from the player deck, each player takes a number of shots equal to the amount of cards in their hand.
- Should you lose because you’re unable to place the number of disease cubes actually needed on the board, each player picks a color of virus, and takes a number of sips of their drink/beer equal to the amount of disease cubes on board, in the player’s chosen color. Different players can’t choose the same color.
Why is it a good drinking game?
The cooperative nature of “Pandemic” encourages players to work together and communicate effectively. Adding drinks to the mix can enhance the camaraderie as players strategize, discuss tactics, and make decisions as a team. The game can be quite challenging, especially when facing outbreaks and struggling to find cures. Introducing drinks can add an extra layer of tension and excitement as players face the pressure of making critical decisions. On the other hand while “Pandemic” is known for its strategic depth, playing it in a more casual setting with drinks can create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The focus might shift from intense strategy to a more laid-back and social experience.
