Drinking rules

General:

  • If the dice are rolled and no player gains any resources, including on a 7, everyone drinks
  • Whenever a player gains the Largest Army and/or Longest Road, that player may give 1 shot to any other player
  • Whenever the Robber prevents a player from collecting resources, that player must drink 1 sip for each resource the Robber prevented them from getting

Gaining and losing cards:

  • If you have to discard cards on a 7, take 1 sip per card discarded
  • When someone draws a card from another player, everyone not involved may choose to bet any number of sips up to a maximum of 1 shot on which resource is drawn.
    • If the betting player guessed correctly, the player who’s card got drawn, drinks the betted amount of sips.
    • If the betting player guessed incorrectly, the betting player drinks the betted amount of sips
  • Whenever a player is forced to give away resources because a “Monopoly” card was played, that player drinks 2 sips per card lost.

Trading:

  • Whenever players agree to a trade, the participants drink in celebration
  • When a port is used to trade with the bank, the owner of that port drinks
  • Whenever a player trades 4 resources of a kind with the bank, that player must take 1 shot

Why it’s a good drinking game:

With plenty of table talk and ways for players to antagonize each other, Settlers of Catan provides ample opportunity to drink away your sorrows while you curse your opponents, or celebrate your dominance by handing out shots to them.
